In the beginning...
There was a Dream.
Roger Ebert was born and raised in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
As a young boy growing up in a tobacco area, it seemed inevitable
that he would one day become an employee of R.J. Reynolds Tobacco
Company, which employed many of Forsyth County's residents
and others residing in the surrounding areas.
Rogers dreams and aspirations were not in the tobacco industry,
but in sign fabrication and lighting up businesses with the
artistry of the era. He was dedicated to proving that his dream
to be an accomplished sign maker would come true.
In 1953 he began working in a sign company where he remained until
1963. At that time, he and Bill Davis purchased Martin Sign
Company where he served as Vice-President. His great knowledge
of repairs to signs and lighting were key in the service area,
the vital part of operation in any sign company.
The Dream Becomes Reality
Rogers's knowledge of the sign business became exceptional and
in 1986, he and his son Dean ventured out on their own to start
Ebert Sign Company. Dean had worked with his father since the
age of fourteen and his knowledge of the business had grown tremendously.
Rogers' high standards and quality became the building blocks
on which to build the company. A dream had come true; through
hard work and dedication to his customers Roger Ebert has been
able to fulfill his dreams as an accomplished sign maker.
Today his son Dean continues to operate the business with modern
equipment.
